Pliny the Younger - The Review

Alright So now that I've come down off my soap box about the whole PTY event thingy, I'll get back to the important part. How good is Pliny the Younger really?

Well to my palate it's damn good and worth the short wait in line. Just not worth getting disappointed over. As you can see in the picture it's a looker and does all the things right to your senses.

Founders Curmudgeon's Better Half - Review

Founders Curmudgeon's Better Half is styled as the "better half" of Old Curmudgeon, their Old Ale. The marriage occurred when Old Curmudgeon took nuptials with a bourbon barrel and they honeymooned in Kentucky whiskey.  Released in February, I knew two things about this beer as the release date approached.  First, it was going to be a difficult acquisition.  It's part of Founders Backstage Series of barrel aged beers, a lineup that includes the heralded CBS and Blushing Monk.  Backed by the Founders brand there's sure to be a feeding frenzy every time.  Second, the beer was going to be rich, supple, and at least a bit sweet.  Whatever the effects of the bourbon, it was certainly not going to strip away the caramel and dried fruit goodness of the base beer, the husband, if you will, Old Curmudgeon himself.

Pliny The Younger - Be Jealous or It's Not Just About Beer

Well we PACNW folks are truly blessed. Not only do we get an amazing array of beers distributed up here. But the beers in that array are truly amazing. Worthy of special events. In this case Russian River's Fabled Pliny the Younger was in town over the last few weeks. I was fortunate enough to wander 8 blocks from my house and get myself a pint. It was not as easy a feet for some as it should be. More on that after the break
