Northdown Cafe & Taproom during its Lions, Tigers, and Beers, Oh My! event on June 5, 2013, beginning at 11:00 a.m. I went to this event last year and the mountain is good. It's an all-day beer event at Northdown in which ultra-rare beers are tapped per a schedule. Every two hours, on the hour, a new round of these rarities gets tapped. More after the jump.
Right in front of me I am holding the secret plans. This year's beer list will be sick - in a "hell yes!" way. Standouts include Founders KBS, Three Floyds Blackheart, a Three Floyds/Surly collaboration called Urine Trouble, Zombie Dust, Mikkeller Mexas Ranger, Local Option American Muscle, Firestone Walker Sucaba 2012, The Bruery Humulus (which in an India Pale Lager), Mikkeller BA Nelson Sauvignon Brut, and Struise's 13% Black Albert - hey, hey hey. There is even a surprise or two being tapped that I can't tell you about. You'll have to stop by and see it for yourself. Yeah, I'm such a tease.
Perhaps the best part is that the event will benefit a good cause - okay, that's the second best part. It's still great news that a portion of proceeds will be donated to the Wildcat Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to providing a no-kill, safe, humane sanctuary for wild cats, and to ceasing the ownership of exotic animals. However, they have no problem at all with you drinking some exotic beers. After all, they'll be the ones reaping the benefits. And I'm strained to think of a cause that's not justified by beers this good.
Northdown is at 3244 N. Lincoln Avenue. Hope to see you there!
